What

Creation of picture postcards and T-shirts about Equal Opportunities

The Swedish Municipal Worker's Union has realised an initiative aim to the diffusion over the territory of Equal Opportunities items. Postcards and T-shirts have been created, with comics and balloons able to make people immediately reflect on gender disparity.

How much

This initiative can be performed by the Equal Opportunities Board or by the Social Affairs Board, after an evaluation of the availability of resources by the committed Municipal Administration, or of the existence of community funds for this kind of initiatives.

How

The Trade Union has contacted a comic-strip writer and given him the task to create the comics analysing the many aspects of discrimination with easy contents and images, so that everybody can understand and remember them. This product was distributed free to municipal bodies, schools, or in the occasion of meetings and seminars.
At first, it could be a single interested municipality who simply experiment this kind of advertising. Subsequently it is possible to create a pool of neighbour municipalities in order to make this action more effective.

Why

The Trade Union has experimented this initiative in the aim of finding an easy an direct way of diffusion and sensitisation, using the advertisement technique, made of images and short slogans. At the same time, they have chosen to use a funny characterisation of the gender disparity in the aim to make easier the approach to these problems.

Results

Co-operation of municipalities in order to foster Equal Opportunities
Diffusion of the product over the territory
Sensitisation of the community about the many aspects of gender discrimination.
