To mobilize all the actors in economic and social life to aerchieve equal opportunities for women and men . Recipe n.14 . What Survey on the needs of disadvantaged women and on the resources at our disposal. The Municipal Commission for reflection and social animation of Verviers - Belgium - has conducted a survey based on questionnaires, addressed to the bodies concerned with social exclusion. The fundamental premise for the analysis of the "disadvantaged women"'s needs consist in the identification of problems and in the determination of a public aim. After this first "research" phase, it is time to catalogue all the existent tools and local resources able to satisfy the identified needs. How much This kind of survey is easy to be conducted with low costs; The continuity of this action, after an evaluation of the administration's financial resources, has to be made sure by a specific mandate given to one public servant. How The interested bodies were been sent written questionnaires (64 were the contacted bodies, and 35 have answered to the questionnaire). The aim of the open questions constituting the questionnaire is: to have a knowledge of the different aspects of exclusion, monitored by each body concerned with the action; to describe the people approaching the bodies; to know the typology of the activities performed by each body; to take new actions into consideration. The answers have pointed out that disadvantaged women have to face specific problems: law educational level unfitting the professional and social life, family charge, lack of subsidies, social isolation… The first ideas for local actions coming out from those conclusions are not only dealing with information, houses, training, social and professional mainstreaming, but also with a co-ordination between the social parties in the aim of defining new actions able to affect the social tissue in order to renew it. Why The Municipal Commission in charge, chaired by the Assessor for Social Affairs, has, one of its objectives, the reflection above the problems concerning the fight against poverty and social exclusion. The realisation of this survey and the data processing by the public servants is part of the kind of activity already performed by the Administration. Results Identification of needs. Strengthening of the proposals by the Commission either to the Municipal Council or to the Board. Actions addressed to strengthen the existing bodies in order to make them able to offer the necessary services to the target group.
