Kärsbyskolan:
a Plan of Action with value exercises for pupils and teachers in schools.
What
A Plan of Action to promote the equal rights and opportunities of girls
and boys and to counteract traditional gender roles.
How
much
The costs are the time put down by a working group with representatives
for the school personnel and pupils to make a Plan of Action. If necessary,
costs for a speaker and drama pedagogue, when implementing the measures
in the Plan of Action.
How
The management of the school discusses and makes a policy document in
gender equality issues. A working group with representatives for the school
personnel and pupils is formed with the mission to make a Plan of Action
for the school. The Plan of Action shall take into consideration national
policies, the Teaching Plan for example. A speaker is engaged who has
experience from young people's attitudes, to inspire the personnel to
work with gender equality issues. A person, preferably a drama pedagogue,
is engaged to lead "value exercises" with the personnel with
the intention of starting dialogues in groups and to process values. Values
within areas which have no given answers such as moral, life style, relations,
drugs, environment, future etc. After that the teachers carry out various
"value exercises" with the pupils.
The Plan of Action has concrete objectives, a timetable and a description
of who is responsible for what.
Why
Counteract sexual harassment and traditional gender roles in schools.
Better study results amongst the pupils and a better working environment
for pupils and teachers.
Result
The number of sexual harassments diminishes. The well being in the school
increases. The self-confidence amongst girls increases.
